Janesville School is contained in a one-school district. The school serves approximately 450 students in kindergarten through the eighth grade. Janesville School is known as a “union school district” because several smaller school districts, including Janesville, Lake, Missouri Bend and Milford that formerly existed in the Honey Lake Valley joined into one single, geographically large school district.

Janesville School is located on Main Street in the community of Janesville. The school includes a beautifully maintained campus nestled in the tree line of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The Janesville School site presently houses twenty-eight classrooms, including the computer laboratory. The site also includes a student library, a gymnasium/cafeteria and various administrative and operations facilities. Classes are self-contained in kindergarten through the sixth grade. Seventh and eighth grade students receive instruction in a modified departmentalized system. Janesville has a well-earned reputation for providing a high quality education. The faculty includes twenty-one district employed full-time teaching positions, including four teachers who share two teaching positions. In addition, the faculty also includes the teacher of an Opportunity Class, who is a full-time teacher provided by the Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE). A music program is provided by a credentialed music teacher. The paraprofessional staff consists of ten classroom aides, a computer technician, a speech aide and a library technician. Cafeteria staff and maintenance staff include three full-time and four part-time employees. The administrative staff consists of the Superintendent/Principal, the Business Manager, the District Secretary, the School Secretary and the Office Clerk. School nursing services are provided on a part-time basis with a health clerk provided by the Lassen County Office of Education. The health clerk works under the supervision of a School Nurse.

The District has seven re-locatable classrooms. The school’s computer lab is located in a classroom adjacent to the library and the school and district offices. Students are taught basic computer skills in the lower grades, while junior high school students are given instruction in keyboarding. The music program offers classroom music for students kindergarten through the sixth grade. Intermediate, Advanced Band and Jazz Band are offered to students in the third through eighth grade.
